Troublemaker question

We sang this lyric in church last week:

Before the Cross, I humbly bow,
I place my trust in the Saviour.

Should we bow to anything but God (Exodus 20:4-5)?

Does this turn the Cross into an object of worship?

  1. Wow. It's so quiet in here.
    I think I hear crickets.

We sing a different song with much the same lyric ..

"At the cross I bow my knee
Where your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this
    you have overcome the grave
your glory fills the highest place
    what can separate me now"
~At the Cross by Reuben Morgan

I think bowing at the cross is like kneeling at the altar. It's a place of remembering in our hearts what was done. What was nailed on the cross. Sin. Sickness. the Curse. My death.

I think of it as the altars in the old testament. When something big and important would happen and they would build an altar. A place to remember and remind themselves of what God had done.

    That's what I think.
    For what it's worth.
